How to Feel Good, Day 3
Today's WTFG (Way to Feel Good) is "get something done."
Too obvious?
More complete would be:
1) Set a target. "I will get X done by Y (time)."
2) Do X by Y.
3) Celebrate it.
This builds a sense of momentum, what I call "That Winning Feeling." Newsflash: winning feels good!
Notice the key elements here, often undervalued and overlooked...
1) Set clear target -- What will I do and by when? Without this, everything runs together and the day is a blur. There's no winning. Maybe there's no losing, either, but we want That Winning Feeling.
One thing that's great about sports vs. life outside the lines is the clarity of the goal.
To build momentum, set a clear but pretty easy target to start out. Win. Schedule your East Florida A & M early in your day... and win. Then ramp up your schedule.
Let's skip to 3) Celebrate it.
Give a fist pump. Say, "yes!". High-five yourself. This closes the loop and lights up your inner circuits. Get the reward. Rewards reinforce behavior... reinforce winning.
For me, I'm going to write this email (no AI) and get it out before 11am. I'll have fist pumped myself by now.
What are you going to do and by when... and how will you celebrate?
Play Big,
Dr. Tom
